Saturday night production pipeline!
It's Saturday night so what else is there to do but go to the cafe and outline your new proposed production pipeline for use with Cinema 4d 13 and the updated xREF's ^ ^
So the new way I'm going to do things is outlined in that crappy foto... after the animatic phase I will create proxy versions of all the characters/sets/props etc and START production with those proxy models... while using the OpenGL hardware renderer to render those shots which is realtime or close to it with most scenes using proxy objects... then as production goes along I will work on finalizing the real models...
BUT I could even finish production and still not have the final models... then once animation production is done I'll have the whole film with a locked edit as I will be editing the hardware rendered shots in the offline edit... then I can finalize the models and they will automatically update in all the scene files since I'll be using xref's... All the sets will be Xref's as well...so then I can do the final lighting for each set and this will update all the shot files as well... then it will just be a matter of making sure the lighting works in each shot because additional lighting will probably be required to highlight the characters/actions in each shot...
Then it will just be a matter of rendering them all...and then compositing them...
This process will also be useful IF you want to create a large project BUT only have one computer and without use of a render farm... you could create the whole film and render it with Xref proxies and the hardware renderer and COMPLETE the whole film albeit in a raw form... THEN you could fundraise or do whatever you had to do to get access to a render farm... then you'd swap out the proxies and do the final render of your film...
ALSO if you want to collaborate with offsite artists... you could put some of your cinema 4d xref master project files in your DROPBOX so an artist somewhere else could be working on the file... then it would automatically update in your master scenes... these new Xref's certainly open up the filmmaking process!
Now it wouldn't be an exciting animator/filmmaker Saturday night if I didn't do any 3d so I get to that ^ ^Brought to you by professional weirdo M dot Strange.
