My one man animated feature film musical is %87 done now
No one is doing 🔥 stuff like this maaaaaan
So I just finished the last sequence I do before I go to London and Iceland for Christmas and New Years- doing my backups and setting up my remote work setup before packing- with my new remote work setup I’ll be able to work on the film using my work PC in Portugal remotely from anywhere now- BUT I’ll prioritize family stuff over the holidays because if I don’t why am I even going?
But in the downtime I’ll log into my PC in Portugal and do some work-
Here’s my updated boring ass spreadsheet screencap for the one other person in the world who likes that kind of thing 😆
And the current timeline which is 86 minutes so you can’t see that I’m not lying haha
The musical is coming out much better than I thought it would- I’m surprised with how fucking cool it is 👀 It’s only my first one but I think I’m good at this 😄
I was telling Larissa(musician and collaborator on this) yesterday that writing the songs in which almost all the lyrics are improvised was really easy because compared to freestyle rapping- improvisational singing is easy because you have so much more time in between beats to come up with the rhymes and lyrics-
So by the time you see this- I wrote all the songs, wrote all the lyrics, performed about %75 of the vocals(using Audimee to replace my voice), performed the motion capture for all the songs, and of course animated/lit/directed/edited all the animated sequences.
I even coded custom tools for some of the scenes.
This is some new type of creative expression that no one else in the world is doing- and definitely not in long form with a narrative like I’m doing here- its exciting to break new creative ground again- but I’ve been doing that for awhile now-
I’m not doing this to chase clout or recognition or awards or whatever tho- no one knows I exist anyway but 😄 I’m just doing what seems to be the best way for an artist/filmmaker/programmer to realize my creative ideas-
So I have four more songs/sequences to do- so the film should be finished by the end of January- I get back to Portugal in the New Year then I’ll be right back to work-
I hired One Card to do the films subs and I’m hiring Yeltsin Is Illuminati to mix and master the songs- I’m not going to rush the mix/master so I’ll finish my part at the end of January and the mix/master will probably be done by early March depending on how fast dude works-
So yeah- I did some fine tuning of the story for my next musical on the last flight I took back to Portugal and I’m stoked to outline that one-
I was planning on doing a game in between musicals but will have to see if I feel like coding haha- I tried some about a week ago and wasn’t feelin it but things change-
Anyhow- another thing I’ve been thinking about is returning to Youtube in a para-social sense- like as myself talking on camera- making vlog type videos or something like that- like I used to do when Youtube first launched-
I hate the whole para-social thing and I realized after all these years most people who followed/watched me on youtube when I had a following weren’t even interested in my films/work it was strictly a para-social thing-
I don’t care about followers/metrics as I don’t need anything from that sort of thing-
So why would I go back?
For fun and to maybe be a positive influence of people- I monetize nothing and don’t care about any of that so my motives would be purely entertainment/educational- and to start a dialog about the musical- discuss the themes etc-
I’m thinking the best format is Youtube live streams where I answer questions etc from the chat- I would make them a regular thing leading up to posting the musical on there and afterwards as well- but let me know if you have a better idea-
Awesome work as always bro- truly refreshing to see your energy giving it all into this project and breaking new ground- nowadays in the field of arts where not much stuff is exciting in the process of creation- glad to see your updates on this bro 😁
I enjoyed your work as an educator, 3d influencer and positive work supporter- and i loved all I learned from your videos. It would be great if you returned- even for the select few of us who really cared about your work and talent
