Lets make a feature film with Nightmare Puppeteer in 2 weeks!
10 minutes already done in one day haha
It’s been almost a year since we released our game that makes animation in Nightmare Puppeteer. No one has made a full length animated film with it yet so we are doing that now. Technically its going to be mixed media as we’re going to shoot some live action for it with our new BlackMagic camera + we hired our dude in L.A. to get us some good trashy street footage from out there.
As of right now its titled “I am a real American”
For fun, our creative director Strangetoshi likes to improvise character monologues- over the course of two nights he recorded about 25 character improvisations which we are using Nightmare Puppeteer to “animate”.
Here is an example of an improv character made into an animation from earlier this year.
In the film we are making now there are recurring themes and characters, most notably “The Drugman” a drug dealer, rapper, producer, entrepreneur with a scent, clothing line, television network and cryptocurrency coin. The story follows his fans and their families following their drug overdoses.
Their will be live action segments showing homeless camps, trash everywhere, broken infrastructure and general nonsensical nonsense that goes on here from day to day.
We’re aiming for an 80 minutes AND to finish it within two weeks. All the dialogue is recorded, I just need to “animate” it in Nightmare Puppeteer. I already did 10 minutes of the film last night in about two hours. For weird dialogue heavy animation you can’t beat the speed of Nightmare Puppeteer.
Do not confuse this with the new animated feature film “Do you know the way to nowhere?” I announced in the previous post, this has nothing to do with that. This is just a fun side project.
So the workflow for this film will be to stay inside and do the animated segments with Nightmare Puppeteer(the air is poison here again in Silicon Valley so I can’t go outside without a respirator if I value my lungs) when the air is ok to breathe I’ll go film homeless camp trash for the live action segments- if there’s a guy with no pants screaming in the street setting things on fire I’ll film that too as it will be perfect for this film.
dah! good good! I have already started my nightmare puppeteer feature film, it is already almost past the five minute mark, but surely yours will be finished first! Happy Puppetting!
