I’ve been watching all the new “ai” tools for art as well as other things- I’ve used a few myself to automate repetitive tasks or for legal/business information-
My stance on this is- I will use AI as a tool to make it easier/cheaper for me to realize my original creative ideas- My focus has always been on my ORIGINAL IDEAS, not my tools, not on changing what I do in an attempt to be “popular”- I never chased the algo’s to try and maximize “engagement” etc- I never called what I do “content”- I never called myself a “content creator”- I never did things I didn’t believe in to try and be popular-
Why? Because I have a soul and and self respect and I could see where it was going in the future-
As it looks now- the creative tools are getting more and more powerful where now someday soon you will be able to create “original” films, animations, music etc with the press of a button- well, the ai will create it but it will make the human feel like they had some meaningful input-
The ai will create entire generated “Youtubers” - “Twitch streamers” - “Tiktokers” whatever etc- they will create/stream 24/7 in all languages everywhere- you’ll be able to customize these new ai “content creators” so they look however you’d like- etc etc- they will be able to do the normal “commentary” and they will also be able to create their own shorts, films, music etc-
NOTE: Using these tools is not free in that they require energy to run- gpu time etc-
I’m sure you’ve already come to the thought long ago- that as these tools get more and more advanced will “creative” humans be required at all to “run” them or “work” with them?
My guess is NO- engineers and programmers will be required to build them out, maintain and update them but “creative” humans will no longer be required BUT those humans where never real “creatives” in the first place I would argue-
As soon as “creatives” started using the word “content” to describe what they do and what they create they were the walking dead-
Computers can do “content” 1,000,000,000 times better than any human-
Wtf is content anyway? It is just some soulless bullshit sculpted by algo’s to maximize human “engagement” for monetization purposes-
It is artistic and cultural trash- it is a purely commercial pursuit and a complete fabrication- it is an insult to the arts-
$$$$$- when it comes to $$$$ and making it- you want to spend the least to make the most- why do we need these “content creator” humans to push buttons to make soulless “content” to max human engagement by tracking metadata/trends when the ai can do it alone?
Now some “content creator” might say- “I’m going to be the one running the GPU’s to serve the push button ai content creation machine!”
Yeh, just like your going to be the one rn running your home Bitcoin mining rig competing against hundred million dollar ASIC farms-
Amazon, google, Microsoft etc will be running the big hardware churning out the “content”- sure, they’ll let you pay them to rent gpu time but you are not going to out-compete them when it comes to price per minute of “content”
If you are a “content creator” and can be replaced by “AI” you deserve to be- you failed as a human creator- you are a bastardization of one, a cursed, corrupted version of one-
Once you went the “content” route- you removed the humanity- you removed the soul, the passion, the history- you became just a cog in machine- a cog that can now be replace with another machine generated cog-
If the only thing special about you is your haircut, the games you play, the things you review, the crying you do on camera, your tattoo’s, your BOOBS, your catchphrase, your branded name you refer to your audience as- or the fact that you are popular now- you are already dead.
I for one welcome these new “creative” ai to replace all these useless human talking heads shitting up every screen one can find-
I for one have been MUCH MUCH MORE entertained by this Presidential debate ai in a day than I have by any “content creators” to date- better than that these ai creations don’t ask you to “like and fav” or beg you to join their Patreon or buy them gifts 🤣 They work 24/7 and are completely interactive-
They also don’t pretend to be your friend when in reality all the audience is to them is a feedbag- they waste human time in exchange for revenue for themselves- they don’t care if you waste all your time and money on them they embrace it- they sell you their para-social “friendship” where you- again—→ trade your PRECIOUS time and money- you give them your human potential and they get paid $$$- you are paid in illusions- the illusion of friendship- the illusion of community-
This new ai creator model is a truer you pay for what you want model- I don’t care about a “creators” day or what color they died their hair or where they traveled to I just want to be entertained- I don’t want to have to pay them so they can get a new tattoo and tell me about it in a 30 minute vlog- I just want to be entertained and all this celebrity culture bullshit is not entertaining too me it is BORING-
I know these people are not my “friends” to them I am just a host- they are the parasite trying to suck out my time in exchange for money- they also ask for money directly- the ai isn’t trying to pretend to by my friend and I like that.
These ai creators require compute time- I’d be happy to simply pay for compute time and be entertained when I want mindless entertainment 🤷♂️
Now- what about original human creators like myself?
I never cared about trends in the first place so I’m just going to use ai tools to help do what I have always been doing- but I’ll never use them to generate ideas, characters for my films etc-
But yeh I’m a film director, game developer, musician and author so I’m just going to keep doing all those things.
